Pigmentan 465M is a non-toxic anticorrosive pigment primarily used for solvent based primers. In certain formulations it can also be used in water based products.
For thin-film primers and other special coatings, we recommend Pigmentan 465M-FG which has a mean particle size of less than 5 microns.
Pigmentan E is a non-toxic anticorrosive pigment, with better compatibility with certain formulations.
For thin-film primers and other special coatings, we recommend Pigmentan E-FG. This product has a mean particle size of less than 5 microns. This grade is useful for lower film weights, and for easier dispersion of the anti-corrosive pigment into the paint system.
Pigmentan MX is a low cost, high performance, environmentally friendly, direct (1:1) substitute for basic Zinc Phosphate. It is suitable for use in primers for both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Pigmentan products 465M, E, MX and EMX may be successfully used in solvent borne general industrial coatings at lower loading than existing anticorrosion pigments. They provide improved resistance to corrosion and lower cost on steel, aluminium and galvanized steel.
For water based systems of all types, Pigmentan EA is the recommended product – with excellent anticorrosion performance in styrene acrylic and acrylic emulsions as well as in water based alkyds and epoxy systems.
Pigmentan 465M and Pigmentan E are both very efficient corrosion inhibitors in solvent based epoxy primers, while Pigmentan EA may be used in high performance water based epoxy primers.
In classical Wash Primer e.g. Mil Spec. 8514 (based on PVB and Phosphoric acid), the anticorrosion pigment is zinc chromate or zinc tetra-oxy-chromate.
Common coil coating primer formulations are based on polyester resins heat cured with amino resins with acid catalysts. This is due to the very high throughput speed of coil coating lines where typical residence time at the PMT (Peak Metal Temperature) is 20-35 seconds.
Pigmentan E and 465M give excellent performance in Powder Coating formulations. They may be used in both.Polyester -TGIC systems for exterior applications, as well as Epoxy-Polyester systems for general metal coating.
